China’s Chang’e 6 mission has achieved a historic milestone by landing on the far side of the Moon. This marks the first attempt to collect soil and rock samples from the area that is never visible from Earth.
The spacecraft made its landing in the Moon’s South Pole–Aitken Basin at 6:23 AM Beijing time, as reported by the China National Space Administration (CNSA). To ensure a safe landing, Chang’e 6 employed laser 3D scanning and an autonomous obstacle avoidance system, effectively navigating the challenging terrain.
